RUSSIAN EMPIRE (UNTIL 1917) / Российская империя (до 1917) - Imperial Order of the Saint Equal to the Apostles Prince Vladimir4th-grade cross, 39.9 x 35.9 mm, official fabrication by Kemmerer & Keibel in Sankt Petersburg between 1840 and 1841, gold and enamels, 8.1 g, enamel painting, on the reverse of the upper cross arm under the enamels double-headed eagle mark of the court suppliers from 1840 until 1917 and on the reverse of the lower cross arm under the enamels master’s mark "KK", on the loop unidentifiable mark, with later ribbon piece. Heinrich Wilhelm Kemmerer (1786–1854), of Saxon origin, according to Tamman (in TRP p. 26–27) produced after the death of Pannasch in 1836 the orders' insignia for the Russian "Chapter of the Imperial and Royal Orders", together with Johann Wilhelm Keibel (1788–1862). The company's name was Kemmerer & Keibel, using the mark "KK". In 1841 Heinrich Wilhelm Kemmerer left the firm in order to produce other precious objects. The company was continued by Johann Wilhelm Keibel.
Due to the fact that this type of mark of court suppliers was only introduced in 1840 and that the firm of Kemmerer & Keibel ended in 1841 with the leave of Kemmerer, the fabrication can be narrowed down to period between these two years.
