Italy 128. Extremely fine. Ex Coll. James et Sneja Velkov, Auction Jean Vinchon, Paris. 24. November 1994, lot 2.. The dating of these coins is controversial. They have been dated from the 6th to the late 3rd century BC. The propounders of a later period of striking see a relationship to the 2nd Punic War and consider the marks of value to be in Roman asses. However in the last years many researchers have returned to the early dating of the 4th century.
