Die Münze in dieser aussergewöhnlichen Erhaltung wurde zusammen mit den ebenfalls in dieser Auktion enthaltenen 2 & 1 Franken von 1901 als spezielles Geschenk für einen damaligen Lehrling der Münzstätte geprägt. Dazu wurden die Stempel besonders hochwertig angefertigt.

This coin, together with the 2 & 1 Francs dated 1901, also being part of this auction, have been specially produced for a trainee working at the Swiss mint at that time. Therefore the dies had to be finished in very high quality way.
