SICILY - Syracuse - Decadrachm 405/390. Signed oeuvre of Euainetos. Galloping quadriga to l., driven by charioteer with kentron.
Above, a flying Nike crowning the driver with wreath. In exergue shield, body armour between two leg
guards, helmet. (ΑΘΛΑ) below. Rev. [ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ] Head of Kore-Persephone to l., wearing wreath of
grain leaves in hair, triple pendant earring and pearl necklace. Four dolphins in field. Signature of the artist
ΕΥ?ΑΙΝ(Ε) below. 42.89 g. Gallatin C16/RVIII. ANS 370 (same obverse die); Dewing 907-908 (same
obverse die). SNG München 1077. Excellent style and wonderful portrait. Very fine/extremely fine.
