FRANKREICH - 2. Kaiserreich, 1852-1870 - Medaille der Mexiko-Expedition 1862-1863 [Médaille de l'Expédition du Mexique 1862-1863]. Ausführung mit Stempelschneidersignatur "SAGRISTAIN F", Silber, am zeitgenössischen Originalband mit eingewobenen mexikanischen Adlern. BWK2 254. Selten. Erhaltung: II
Die Medaille wurde mit kaiserlichem Dekret vom 29. August 1863 von Kaiser Napoléon III. für alle Teilnehmer der französischen Expedition nach Mexiko von 1862 bis 1863, zur Unterstützung Erzherzog Maximilians von Österreich (1832-1867) bei der Errichtung des Mexikanischen Kaiserreiches, das bis 1867 währte. Laut Souyris-Rolland (in SR1 S.65) umfasste das französische Expeditionskorps (bestehend aus Franzosen, sowie Freiwilligen aus Österreich und anderen europäischen Ländern) ca. 38.000 Mann.
